Federal gov't lawyer getting roasted by judge in carbon tax fight...

"Climate change is an 'urgent threat to humanity' that knows no boundaries, a
federal government lawyer argued Tuesday, as a judge reviewing Ontario's
carbon-tax challenge asked why Ottawa won't leave the province alone.

'We know that climate change is an urgent threat to humanity,' Ms. Telles-
Langdon said in her opening remarks to Ontario's court of appeal in Toronto.

'Greenhouse gas emissions are not contained within geographic boundaries. They
are an inter-provincial and international pollutant.'

She later added that it's an 'unquestioned fact' that pricing reduces emissions
- and requires a national solution."

leave-ontario-alone-as-carbon-tax/

If it's such an urgent threat to humanity, then why are the feds now bringing
in more that 300,000 immigrants per year - mainly from warmer countries - all
increasing Canada's carbon footprint? Do the Liberals hate humanity?

And of course the lawyer is lying: it's not an unquestioned fact that carbon
pricing reduces emissions.

AFAIC it is an unquestioned fact that the Carbon Tax is a tax, and
nothing more than a tax.

Apparently it matters what it's called. When the BC carbon tax on gasoline was
5 or 6 cents a litre, it was claimed that it was reducing emissions by changing
peoples' driving habits. But the same claim wasn't made about the Translink
levy (17 cents/litre) and other fuel taxes totalling well over 30 cents/litre.

The powers that be really ought to change the names of all the taxes to the
"Saving humanity tax" in order to really get a drastic drop in emissions.

Some, who will get that 'tax' back as a refund + might disagree with your biased opinion. You would be wise to return it to the government with a note of 'thanks, but I don't want your tax'.
