I got a phone call this afternoon, telling me that my computer had been
hacked, and that the caller had received a signal sent from my computer.

I kept him on the phone for 13:48 before telling him the computer I was
checking wasn't connected to the internet.

You seem to attract some very strange people, Wakefield . . . .
Now Eric Schild will respond.

I love those guys. They invariably have an Indian accent and introduce
themselves with an anlgo name and say they are calling either from
Microsoft or from my internet provider. My challenge is to keep them on
the line for as long as possible. I figure that the longer I keep them
on the line the fewer people they can hassle.

I have to wonder how many people are dumb enough to give them credit
card information or access to their computers.

A friend of my father's kept one guy on the phone for over half-an-hour, and
he doesn't even have a computer.

Only people dumb enough to not have an anti-virus program to begin with.
