At least according to existential philosophers. I take credit for the following
aphorism: "God does not exist; there is no heaven, but there is a hell and we
are living in it now". Since there is no purpose of the universe, our earth,
or the living creatures on it (Homo Sapiens predominant), our existence, accomplishments and suffering are all meaningless and absurd. This is why Camus can write:"It is common knowledge that life is not worth living", or Shakespeare--"Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
